On April 22, 2021 I stopped the operator of a white 2003 Chev Tahoe for fail to display license plates. An investigation revealed the driver was driving while suspended violation, driving uninsured, and wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for probation violation out of the Circuit Court of Lincoln County. The operator was cited and released per the Lincoln County jail Covid restrictions.

Log Only: The Oregon State Police worked together with the Newport Police Department to begin communications with a female in need of help that had been traveling north from Waldport with a desire to get to the hospital in Newport for mental health care. The female expressed a desire to go to the hospital but was unwilling to accept any rides. Officers were naturally concerned of the bridge to cross before getting to the hospital. The female was followed/escorted by law enforcement to guide her safely to the hospital for help. Values of Compassion and Dedication to the public were displayed by assisting law enforcement. Additionally, members of the Pacific West Ambulance had also helped in talking with the female and sorting out the situation.

E-Crash: A Toyota sedan was being driven southbound on US-101. The driver described themselves losing control after pulling aside for a passing motorist. The driver went over the fog line crashing into guardrail and trees. The Toyota overturned. The driver was alone and was uninjured. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department assisted on-scene. The Deputy Sergeant assisted with translation and provided a courtesy transport into Newport to their residence. The vehicle was removed by Coast Towing. (ecrash) On 4/25/21 at approximately 8:09 pm I was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash on US 20 near mile post 30 involving a black GMC Sonoma (XVR966). The vehicle was eastbound when, for an unknown reason, it drove off the eastbound shoulder at a shallow angle. The vehicle continued until it struck two trees and overturned until it came to an uncontrolled rest on the driver side. The driver self-extricated and declined medics. Fatigue is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash. The driver was cited for Failure to Drive within Lane. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Coast Towing.
