e-crash only: A two-vehicle rear end collision occurred on US-101 near milepost 115 in the southbound lanes when the operator of unit #2, a silver 2005 Jeep Cherokee stopped to turn left and the operator of unit #1, a gray 2004 Nissan Frontier failed to stop before crashing into the back of unit #2. Both operators were uninjured and both vehicles were driven from the scene after an information exchange was facilitated by State Police.

Narrative Summary
eCrash – On 1/9/21 at approximately 2:40PM driver of unit 1 Silver Acura turned southbound on Highway 101 from NE Avery St in Newport, Oregon. Unit 1 struck northbound unit 2 Black Dodge SUV in the rear quarter panel causing minor cosmetic damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. Driver of unit 1 was issued a citation for no operator’s license and failure to yield right of way. Vehicles were driven from the scene.

Narrative Summary
On 1/9/21 I was dispatched to the report of single crash on US 101 near MP 130 involving a white Mitsubishi van (WA AFT0042). The van had been northbound and negotiating a curve when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle swerved off the northbound shoulder and crashed head-on into a tree. A witness reported he observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane for several miles as he followed it from Newport. Upon contact the driver exhibited signs of impairment and smelled strongly of alcohol. The driver consented to and performed poorly on SFST’s. He was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to perform a breath test rendering a result of 0.11% BAC. The driver was cited and released for DUII and Reckless Driving. The vehicle was recovered and towed from the scene by Coast Towing.

Narrative Summary
A crash occurred near milepost 1.5 on US-20. A Ford truck with a utility trailer were being driven eastbound when a large tote came off the trailer and into the roadway. Westbound vehicles began stopping and a westbound Mack semi-truck stopped behind two stopped westbound vehicles. The Mack truck was then rear-ended by a westbound traveling Ford Focus. The Ford Focus was then rear-ended by a westbound traveling Kia Sportage. Coast Towing removed the Kia and Ford Focus. No medical transportation was necessary. Oregon State Police were assisted on-scene by Newport Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, and ODOT Incident Response. Toledo Police Department was able to locate the eastbound traveling truck/utility trailer which had lost its tote.
