Narrative Summary
On 2/19/22 at approximately 11AM a northbound vehicle on US Highway 101 in Newport, Oregon failed to yield to a Newport Police patrol vehicle with emergency lights. I attempted to stop the subject vehicle. Subject vehicle failed to yield for approximately one mile and stopped at the Chevron gas station near NW 15th Street. Driver of vehicle refused to comply to commands to exit the vehicle. Driver displayed signs of impairment. Driver resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody. Driver was evaluated at a hospital and cleared for jail. Driver was lodged at Lincoln County Jail and charged with DUI CS, resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and disorderly conduct. Newport PD and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. Vehicle was towed by Rowley’s Towing.

An adult male was arrested for disorderly conduct in the second degree after police received numerous citizen complaints of the male threatening to shoot people, yelling, getting into the highway, and throwing rocks into the highway. On 2/21/2022 a Red Mercedes GLA was traveling East on US-20 when it was rear ended by a Grey 2017 Honda Civic. The red Mercedes was decelerating as it was passing a crashed vehicle when the grey honda civic collided. The driver and passenger of the red Mercedes suffered no injuries and was able to drive off scene. The driver of the grey Honda suffered no injuries and was warned for careless driving. The grey Honda was towed by Coast Towing.
