Narrative Summary
eCrash – On 2/14/20 at approximately 2PM an eastbound red Smart car changed lanes from a right turn lane into the eastbound lane of Highway 18 near milepost 10 at the Van Duzer Rest Area. The Smart car collided with another eastbound vehicle, a silver Nissan. No injuries were reported. Driver of the Smart car was issued a citation for failure to drive within lane. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted. Car Care Tow Pro towed the Smart car from the scene.

Narrative Summary
On 02/14/2020 at approximately 16:10 PM, a passing motorist noticed what appeared to be a handgun left along US Highway 101 near milepost 105. The motorist stopped and collected the weapon and contacted law enforcement. The firearm, a silver .38 special revolver was not loaded, and was turned over to the Oregon State Police. The revolver was placed into evidence at the Newport Area Command Office for safekeeping.

On 02/15/2020 at approximately 09:00 AM, the Oregon State Police investigated a theft of vehicle parts from a 2013 Ford pick-up that occurred on 02/08/2020. Two “Rigid Industries” light bars valued at approximately $2700.00 were removed from the vehicle as it traveled the Oregon Coast. The exact location of the theft is unknown.

Narrative Summary
***E-CRASH*** On the afternoon of February 16, 2020, the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic crash on Hwy 101 near mile post 152 in Seal Rock. The crash investigation found UNIT #1 (Flatbed tow truck) was loaded with UNIT #2 (Ford Truck) when the driver reportedly took his attention off the roadway to manipulate a tablet after receiving a call from AAA. The driver failed to negotiate the curve and rolled over in the ditch. The driver was taken to a local Newport Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver was issued a citation for Driving a Motor Vehicle While Operating a Mobile Device. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Rowley’s Towing.
