Narrative Summary
(ecrash) On 8/3/21 at approximately 2:06 pm I self-dispatched to a single vehicle crash, involving a gray Ford Mustang (531MCP), which occurred on SR 229 near mile post 25. The Mustang had been southbound on SR 229, when for an unknown reason, the vehicle abruptly crossed over the opposing lane and crashed head-on into a grove of trees. During an interview the driver stated he dropped a bottle of soda on the floor board and inadvertently jerked the steering wheel to the left when he attempted to pick it up. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Coast Towing.

e-crash only: A single-vehicle, non-injury crash occurred on US-20 near milepost 16 when the eastbound driver of a 2005 Nissan Frontier pickup drove onto the shoulder striking a fog marker and then crossed both lanes before striking the embankment. The vehicle came to rest partly blocking the westbound lane. Coast towing recovered the vehicle and towed it to Newport due to extensive damage. The driver was issued citations for no operator’s license, and fail to drive within lane.

eCrash – On 08/05/2021 at approximately 1900 a unit 1 (Red Truck) driving southbound through Depoe Bay collided with a parked unit 2 (Maroon Van). Unit 2 overturned, collided with and damaged the sea wall. Unit 2 was unoccupied. Driver of unit 1 cooperated at the scene. Driver of unit 1 was cited for driving suspended and failure to drive within a lane. Unit 2 was towed by Rowleys Towing. ODOT, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Depoe Bay Fire assisted at the scene. A section of the sea wall was taped off and will be assessed by ODOT.

Narrative Summary
A person towing a fifth wheel trailer on US-20 near milepost 20 ran out of fuel and became stranded partially blocking the right slow lane on a large hill. An investigation revealed the operator was driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and had a warrant for his arrest for FTA on a criminal citation out of Klamath County. Local tow companies were unable to tow the vehicle and assistance was requested from ODOT. ODOT provided two gallons of gasoline to get the vehicle out of the highway. The operator was cited and released on the warrant.

Narrative Summary
eCrash: On 08/07/2021 at approximately 16:18 I responded to MVA on HWY101 at MP135. Unit 1 (White Ford) collided with unit 2 (Green Prius). Unit 1 was following a truck pulling a 5th wheel trailer as a piolit car. Unit 1 failed to stop before entering the highway where unit 1 struck unit 2. Both northbound and southbound lanes were shut down for approximately 45min. Both unit 1 and unit 2 were towed by Rowley’s Towing due to damage. The driver of unit 1 was cited for driving uninsured and failing to yield before entering a highway.

A driving complaint resulted in the arrest of the driver of a Jeep Wrangler on US20 in Toledo for DUII and Reckless Driving. The vehicle was towed to impound by Coast Towing. The driver was transported to the Lincoln County jail where he refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained and a blood draw completed.
