Narrative summary
***F/V Das Bug Referral to NOAA for documented boat length on halibut permit. *** On June 29, 2024, I
accessed the NOAA fisheries Pacific Coast halibut permit list and discovered that the fishing vessel Das Bug,
owned by Perry Bordeaux and Tiburon Fisheries LLC had obtained a direct commercial fishery halibut permit.
The permit stated the F/V Das Bug’s overall length is 40 feet. This declaration of 40 feet allows the F/V Das
Bug to land 3000lbs of halibut in a commercial halibut fishing period. I also observed the pervious years halibut
permit in this same system has the F/V Das Bug at 33 feet in length. Which would allow 1,800lbs of halibut in a
commercial halibut fishing period. I accessed the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife database and the
documented length in that system has the Das Bug at 33 feet in length as well. The change in length would
allow the F/V Das Bug to land 1,200lbs more of halibut in a commercial halibut period.
