YACHATS – A fledgling community group in Yachats has organized an information session with a state land-use planning official to explain to local residents how Oregon’s land-use process works.
Hui Rodomsky, south coast representative for the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development, will talk about the basics of the land-use system during a public meeting at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in Room 8 of the Yachats Commons.
The session is being organized by the Yachats Action Alliance, which formed a year ago to argue against a motel development proposal on the south side of the city. John Ayer, a YAA organizer, said it became clear during the motel proposal that many residents do not know how local and state land-use systems work or how decisions are made.
Monday’s meeting is an attempt to begin that education process, he said.
“Join a community conversation about Oregon’s land-use system, the different types of land use decisions, the life cycle of a land-use application, and ways to get involved and more effectively engage in land-use issues of concern to you,” Ayer said.
