Oregon mask guidance updated for fully vaccinated
Following new guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Governor Kate Brown announced today that Oregon will be following this guidance, which only applies to fully-vaccinated individuals. The guidance takes effect Thursday.
- Oregonians who are fully-vaccinated no longer need to wear masks or social distance in most public spaces.
- There are a few exceptions, such as public transportation, hospitals, correctional facilities, and long-term care facilities.

Western states approve vaccinations for people 12 and older
On May 12, the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup agreed to extend COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to people ages 12 and older.
The workgroup concluded that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is “safe and effective in this age group and supports its use.”
It’s important to note, the only vaccine approved for people 12 through 17 years is the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. You can search for vaccination by manufacturer here.

Vaccinations in Oregon
Thursday, OHA reported that 30,037 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 18,733 doses were administered on May 12 and 11,304 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on May 12. The seven day running average is now 32,922 doses per day. Cumulative daily totals can take several days to finalize.
Oregon has now administered a total of 1,881,250 first and second doses of Pfizer, 1,437,343 first and second doses of Moderna and 116,551 single doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.

These data are preliminary and subject to change.
Note: Wednesday, the daily media release incorrectly reported the number of COVID-19 vaccinations that were sent to the state immunization registry. Here is the correct data for May 12: OHA reported that 28,652 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry.
Of this total, 16,592 doses were administered on May 11 and 12,060 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on May 11. OHA regrets the error.
OHA’s dashboards provide regularly updated vaccination data, and Oregon’s dashboard has been updated today.
