Yes, the weeks-long stretch of clear, sunny weather on the central Oregon coast meant for a very dry October.
There were 2.42 inches of rain measured at the Yachats wastewater treatment plant in October, making it the second-lowest October amount in the past 10 years. Only October 2013 with 1.67 inches was lower.
October’s rainfall brought Yachats’ total for the 10 months of 2019 to 40.79 inches – almost 10 inches below the average over the past 10 years. The 10-year average through October is 50.33 inches.
But we’ll see what happens in November, which is usually the third- or fourth-wettest month of the year in Yachats, averaging 10.58 inches.
