On Thursday, Jan. 23, at about 8:50 p.m. members of the Newport Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Norman F. Casas, 51, as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Officers had received information that Casas was transporting a large quantity of narcotics inside of the vehicle. Officers had also received information that Casas was selling narcotics out of a motel room at 754 SW Coast Hwy. Newport Police Department Narcotics Detection K9 Zoe alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. Officers executed a search warrant on Casas’ motel room and the vehicle.
Officers located a commercial quantity of methamphetamine (over one-half pound) inside of the vehicle. Officers additionally located drug use and sales paraphernalia, drug packaging materials, and digital scales.
Casas was arrested at the scene and lodged in the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Unlawful Manufacture Methamphetamine, Unlawful Delivery Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
