EDDYVILLE – A 52-year-old Newport-area man was killed and two others were hospitalized with serious injuries Saturday evening after a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 20 about five miles east of Eddyville.
Devon Negathon of South Beach died when his eastbound GMC truck crossed over the center line near Little Elk Creek at 5:35 p.m. Saturday and collided head on with a Toyota Tacoma driven by Curtis Preston, 53, of Toledo, Oregon State Police reported Monday.
Preston and Negathon’s passenger, Cheryl A. Ballas, 32, of Newport, were both taken by ambulances to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with serious injuries, police said.
Highway 20 was reduced to one lane for approximately four hours.
