Marilyn M. Brown

Marilyn “Lyn” M. Brown passed away June 28, 2023 in Fort Collins, Colo. from complications of lung disease. She was 89.
Marilyn June Morine was born May 10, 1934, on a farm in Putnam County, Ill. to Eva (Winterscheid) Morine and Lyle E. Morine.
She was raised on the farm and attended a one-room school on her father’s land. 4-H Club work was important in her young life.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois in 1956 and in 1988 she achieved a Master’s degree in counseling at Oregon State University.
Marilyn married Richard K. Brown in Hennepin, Ill. on March 4, 1956. Richard died in 2014.
Lyn built a home in Yachats and lived there off and on from 2002 to 2016.
Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, studying, and animals. Her interests late in life included family history, quilting, and the Pacific Ocean. She was a member of the quilting group that met at Yachats Community Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer at the library.
Survivors include five children, Bethany Martin and her husband, Michael, of Fort Collins; Mark Brown and his wife, Fatima Ahmed, of Fort Collins; Steven Brown of Loveland; DeAnn Paul of Masonville; and Jay Brown and his wife, Christine, of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and a sister, Lyla Striet, of Lombard, Ill.
Beloved grandchildren are Aalia, Tatiana, Keryl, Taylor, William, and Henry. Marilyn is also survived by several generations of well-loved nieces and nephews.
