NEWPORT — What better way to source the food or decorative plants that will fill your garden this year than from the Lincoln County Master Gardener Association? The group’s popular annual plant sale will be held in the newly-remodeled 4H barn at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds this Saturday, May 20.
There will be more than 25 varieties of tomatoes, vegetable starts, herbs, native plants and perennials to choose from. All grown locally from seed, cuttings, digging and dividing, or bare root starts. The plants are ready for the unique coastal environment.
Stop by the help desk for gardening questions or Master Gardener information. A representative from the Oregon Bee Atlas will also be available to educate visitors on the 740 different types of bees that live in Oregon.
The garage sale section will have some outstanding deals on a healthy collection of gardening books, tools, pots, floating row covers and many other garden-related items.
And something new to the sale this year: a tool-sharpening service. Bring your clippers, loppers or any tool that needs a new edge for a “tune up.” This will be set up outside of the barn.
The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lincoln County Fairgrounds is located at 633 N.E. Third St., Newport. For more information, go to www.extension.oregonstate.edu/mg.
