Lincoln County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4 percent in November, the Oregon Employment Department announced this week, unchanged from the 4 percent rate in October. But the rate was down significantly from 5.9 percent in November 2023.
Oregon’s unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in November and the national rate was 3.7 percent.
The agency reported that seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll employment in Lincoln County decreased by 20 in November to 18,940 jobs.
Seasonally adjusted figures compare expected changes with actual changes. A loss of 330 jobs was expected for the month, the agency said, but the county’s total nonfarm employment decreased by 350. The private sector lost 420 jobs, including 220 in the leisure and hospitality sector and 160 in manufacturing. Government employment increased by 70, the department said.
November’s total nonfarm employment numbers show a gain of 530 jobs compared with one year before, an increase of 2.8 percent. Jobs in professional and business services were up 80 jobs over the year to November and private education and health services grew by 60 jobs. Local government, including tribal and education, added 230 jobs over the past year, the agency said, while food and beverage retailers shed 60 jobs over the year.
