LINCOLN CITY — The Bijou Theatre is once again getting into the Oscars spirit by screening this year’s Academy Award-nominated short films from Friday through Sunday, March 12.
The Bijou will also give out ballots, allowing viewers to pick the films they think deserve to take home the coveted gold statuette. Watch the March 12 award ceremony to see how well you guessed.
The nominations are divided among three categories: Animation, Live Action and Documentary.
Explore the truth of existence and the human experience with animated shorts like “An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It” and “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.”
Dive into live action shorts with “An Irish Goodbye,” a story of estranged brothers; or sisterly love filmed with the stunning backdrop of Iceland in “Ivalu.”
Or ponder thought-provoking topics with documentaries such as “How Do You Measure a Year?” which follows the growth of a daughter from toddler to young woman, or “Haulout,” where a man waits in the remote Arctic to experience a rare natural event.
Admission is $9 for each individual program or $25 for all three.
The Bijou Theatre is located at 1624 NE Hwy. 101 in Lincoln City. For more information, go to cinemalovers.com or call 541-994-8255.
