The Lincoln County League of Women Voters and Oregon Coast Community College are co-sponsoring a local candidate forum from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at the college’s campus in Newport.
League president Jean Cowan will serve as moderator.
The evening will begin with a candidate “meet and greet” from 5:30-6:00 p.m., followed by the first hour highlighting races for the Oregon Legislature and Lincoln County commission.
Candidates who have confirmed their participation includes Sen. Dick Anderson, R-Lincoln City, who is seeking re-election to Senate District 5, and his Democratic challenger, Jo Beaudreau, a Florence city councilor.
The second contested race will feature the candidates seeking the county commission Position 2 seat – incumbent Claire Hall of Newport and challenger Rick Beasley, a Depoe Bay city councilor.
Two unopposed candidates will also speak – Rep. David Gomberg, D-Otis, and Lincoln County Sheriff Lt. Adam Shanks, who seeking the county sheriff position.
The league has also invited all candidates seeking mayoral or city councils positions to introduce themselves during the second hour.
The public is invited to attend in person but the forum may also be viewed online via the league’s website www.lwvlincolncounty.org.
