A Linn County Circuit Court jury convicted a 36-year-old Blodgett man on Oct. 27 for second-degree murder.
James L. Anderson was arrested in July 2021 at his home on charges that included the murder of Angela N. Christian, 33, an Albany resident and his former girlfriend. Her body was found down an embankment off Marys Peak Road.
Anderson is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 11.
Anderson initially suggested to investigators that Christian committed suicide. But the investigation, which included evidence at Christian’s residence in Albany, led police to determine it was a homicide. Anderson confessed to the crime while testifying at his trial.
Anderson had been facing domestic violence charges prior to the murder and violated an order of no contact. He was released on bail from the Linn County Jail 23 days before killing Christian.
The jury also found Anderson guilty on felony charges of second-degree abuse of a corpse, strangulation and unlawful use of a weapon. Misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault and menacing were also part of the conviction.
