WALDPORT – The repair of a bridge 35 miles east of Waldport on Oregon Highway 34 will disrupt traffic between Philomath and the central Oregon coast much of this week.
The Oregon Department of Transportation has hired a contractor to replace the wooden deck of the bridge over Maltby Creek. The work had been delayed for two years because of supply issues.
ODOT said the road will be down to a single lane of traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, June 20-21, and for 24 hours beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 22. The bridge will be closed Friday, June 23 until 3 p.m. Monday, June 26 when it will reopen.
Travelers going between Waldport and Alsea or Philomath/Corvallis will need to use Highway 20 east of Newport during the closure.
