WALDPORT – Lincoln County’s health department is organizing the annual 15th annual “Hands Across the Bridge” event on the Alsea Bay Bridge at noon Saturday, Sept. 16 as part of national recovery month.
It is part of the county’s month-long awareness campaign and celebration of mental health and substance use challenges. The month promotes the benefits of treatment for substance use and mental health issues, celebrates people in recovery, praises the contributions of treatment providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible.
The Sept. 16 event in Waldport begins with gathering at 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Waldport Heritage Museum. The bridge crossing will begin with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians drummer at noon before crossing the bridge. Afterwards there is a free barbeque lunch, speakers, and family activities at the Waldport Community Center.
