Jason Holland of Newport, the executive director of the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts has been appointed to the Oregon Arts Commission by Gov. Tina Kotek. Holland’s four-year terms immediately.
The nine-member Oregon Arts Commission provides leadership, funding and arts programs through its grants, services and special initiatives. Its commissioners determine arts needs and establish policies for public support of the arts.
The commission is supported with general funds appropriated by the Oregon Legislature, federal funds from the National Endowment for the Arts and money from the Oregon Cultural Trust.
The Arts Commission became part of Business Oregon in 1993.
Holland became the executive director of the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts in March 2021. It is the umbrella organization for a variety of arts groups and also manages and operates the Newport Performing Arts and Visual Arts Centers. Holland is on the boards of the Economic Development Alliance of Lincoln County, Pride Newport and the Lincoln County Cultural Coalition.
