YACHATS – Siuslaw National Forest officials are seeking someone interested in operating a concession stand at Devils Churn south of Yachats.
The vacant space near the information window will be available for the sale of food and beverages under a special use permit.
“This is an excellent opportunity for a business interested in supporting recreation and serving the public on the Oregon Coast,” said Siuslaw National Forest recreation program manager Trevor Robinson. “We encourage those who are interested to participate in the upcoming site tour, ask questions, and gather information ahead of the prospectus publication.”
The facility includes amenities such as 100-square-foot of space, countertop sinks, electrical outlets, and a private bathroom. Water, sewer, and electricity will be provided by the Siuslaw National Forest.
A tour of the facility is scheduled for Feb. 21. The concession space will be open for viewing and Forest Service staff will be available to answer questions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The deadline to sign up is Feb. 16. For registration, comments, or concerns about the site tour contact Reba Ortiz at reba.ortiz@usda.gov.
“We are excited to create a new opportunity for visitors to the Oregon coast,” Robinson said. “The Devil’s Churn concessionaire site has a lot of potential for a local business and we hope it will add value to the community and the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area recreation experience.”
For information about eligibility and instructions on how to apply go to the agency’s website. To be considered, all documentation must be received by 4:30 p.m. April 3. The selected applicant is expected to begin operations by July 1.
Devils Churn day-use area is open year-round.
