Yachats Lions Club monthly speakers series

Ian Black of the OSU College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences will talk about “The National Science Foundation’s New Regional Class Research Vessels – The R/V Taani” which is being built for OSU and expected to arrive in Newport in 2025 The first half of the talk will discuss the build and scientific capabilities of the research vessel, which is anticipated to start operating from OSU’s facilities next year. The second half of the talk will describe some of the larger scientific questions this vessel was designed to answer and the educational opportunities it presents.
