Esther Louise Paul
Feb. 18, 1940 – May 17, 2022
Eclectic is a word that was invented for Esther Louise Paul of Yachats, who died May 17, 2022, at the age of 82.
Humble beginnings and fierce maternal instincts molded a grateful community member who stepped in when called upon.
She was born to Thomas and Bertha Kendal on Feb. 18, 1940 in New Castle, Indiana and died at her home in Yachats. She is survived by her son, Steve Paul and his wife, Clare, of Yachats, and four grandchildren.
Esther left this existence after a whirlwind of life enjoying what was presented — wined and dined by royalty in Monaco, Girl Scout and 4-H leader, Queen of Eastern Star, hot air ballooning over Thailand, motorcycling to Sturgis, dog sledding near the Bering Sea.
The lack of degrees did not slow her growth and enthusiasm for education. Her proudest bragging rights were of producing two award-winning elementary teachers, a son and daughter.
Esther showed up in Yachats during the Mushroom Festival nine years ago and found her home. She volunteered with many groups, but especially enjoyed numerous activities with the Yachats Lions Club and the Yachats Ladies Club and attended Yachats Community Presbyterian Church.
Yachats was the perfect curtain call for her time on earth.
