SEAL ROCK – A 90-year-old Seal Rock-area man was treated for hypothermia and minor injuries Saturday at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital after leaving his house north of Waldport the night before and crashing it down an embankment.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Bonita Boldt reported her husband and their vehicle missing about 3:40 a.m. Saturday after last seeing him about 11 p.m. Friday. She told deputies that her husband has been experiencing age-related mental health issues leading him to obsess over garbage, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. She told deputies he might have driven to Dahl Disposal in Waldport.
A sheriff’s deputy, Central Oregon Coast Fire & Rescue and Pacific West Ambulance personnel and Boldt’s son spent two hours searching unsuccessfully for the missing man, the sheriff’s said.
About 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Boldt’s son reported finding his father’s vehicle crashed down a hill a short distance from his residence. Deputies, firefighters from the Seal Rock and Central Oregon Coast fire departments, and Pacific West Ambulance paramedics rescued Boldt and took him to the Newport hospital.
