A 43-year-old California man was arrested on criminal trespass charges Tuesday night after a Yachats resident called Lincoln County police dispatch about an intruder.
Brandon R. Holve of Springville, Calif. is in the Lincoln County Jail on charges of first-degree criminal trespass. Bail is $15,000.
The incident began about 10:10 p.m. Tuesday when dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a residence on East Ninth Street in Yachats, according to a news release Wednesday from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The line was open — the caller was not communicating with dispatch — but voices could be heard in the background. The dispatcher determined it sounded like someone was in distress.
When deputies responded they found Holve in the home of the caller. The sheriff’s office said Holve entered the residence unlawfully, but did not attempt or commit any additional crimes.
The sheriff’s office said Holve was a transient and that deputies had issued Holve trespass notices from several Yachats businesses earlier in the evening. Deputies said Holve’s conduct did not warrant criminal charges during those incidents and that his behavior was determined to be erratic, but non-criminal.
The sheriff’s office said Holve is likely associated with unreported incidents of a similar nature in and around Yachats on Tuesday evening. Anyone with information regarding those incidents is encouraged to contact Deputy Taylor Jernigan or dispatch at 541-265-0777.
