ALSEA – A 78-year-old bicyclist from Corvallis was killed Sunday when she and a truck collided at the intersection of Oregon Highway 34 and Decker Road east of Alsea.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said Sherry E. Sisson of Corvallis was killed as she attempted to turn onto Decker Road and collided with a pickup truck which was in the same lane and approaching from behind her. The truck driver was identified as Joseph B. Richards, 61, of Albany.
Deputies said Sisson died at the scene.
Highway 34 was closed from 10:15 a.m. until mid-afternoon as the sheriff’s crash team investigated the incident. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information on the collision to contact Sgt. David Iverson at 541-766-6858.
