The Small Business Development Center at Oregon Coast Community College is offering a two-day Oregon Construction Contractors Board test preparation class in early September.
This class will prepare students to qualify for and pass the state exam required for contractor certification in Oregon. The class is taught by a certified education provider and fulfills the state’s pre-exam education requirement. Participants will learn the material and take the test over the same two days.
Earning the state license is a critical step towards business ownership for people who have mastered a trade like carpentry or plumbing, the college said in announcing the class. Many other CCB test programs involve hours of independent study, plus time for traveling to take the test. By contrast, this program – pioneered by the Small Business Development Center Network in Oregon – allows participants to learn the material and take the test in the same two-day period.
This course was last offered at OCCC in 2023 – and all of the participants passed the test the first time.
The class will be offered 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 5-6 at the OCCC campus in Newport. The cost is $450. To register, go to the college’s Small Business Development Center’s website or call 541-994-4166.
