WALDPORT – The Central Oregon Coast Fire & Rescue board is looking for someone to replace Zach Akin, who resigned Thursday because he moved to Central Oregon.
Akin, who had worked as a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy, was appointed to the board in June 2022 after two board members were recalled. He was elected in May 2023 to a two-year term that started July 1, 2023 and goes until June 30, 2025.
The board announced Friday it is seeking applicants to finish the remainder of Akin’s term. The district said letters of interest should be sent to board chair Reda Eckerman at reckerman@centralcoastfire.net, mailed to P.O. Box 505, Waldport, Ore. 97394, or dropped off at the main station in Waldport.
Letters of interest are due by 4 p.m. Sept. 18 with the board scheduled to decide on an appointment at its regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Sept. 19.
