CoastBusters, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients in Lincoln and Lane counties, raised nearly $55,000 during its annual CoastBusters Walks in Sept. 28 in Newport and Oct. 5 in Florence.
“Hundreds of pink-clad participants turned out to walk in solidarity, raising essential funds to provide financial relief for local breast cancer patients,” the organization said in a news release announcing the fundraising results.
The money raised will remain in the community, helping patients with non-medical expenses like transportation, rent, and utilities, the group said.
“By alleviating these day-to-day costs, CoastBusters enables patients to focus on healing and recovery without added financial strain,” the release said.
CoastBusters is also reminding local residents that a donation, either a general donation or one made in honor or memory of a loved one, can make a meaningful impact. Donations are accepted year-round at CoastBusterswalk.org, or checks payable to CoastBusters can be mailed to P.O. Box 1804, Newport, Ore., 97365.
The organization is also seeking a new board member to join its leadership team. Interested parties should email jeanette@CoastBusterswalk.org
