WALDPORT – The city of Waldport this week hopes to diagnose the problem and repair whatever has clogged the pipe at its public RV dump station on Southwest Starr Street.
The city had to close off the dump station last week after something clogged or damaged the pipe connecting it to the sewage treatment system, said city manager Dann Cutter.
The city closed the station in 2020 because of permitting issues with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and concern that chemicals used in RV tanks could hinder the operation of its wastewater treatment plant. It reopened the station in September after resolving those issues.
But last week, something lodged in the station’s pipe and Public Works crews using a water jet could not clear it. This week crews will use a remote camera to inspect the pipe and see if there is something blocking the pipe or if the pipe has collapsed, Cutter said.
“Once it drains we can lower a camera down there to see what’s causing the problem,” he said.
Cutter said a damaged pipe could require more extensive repairs.
