A Eugene author who writes about ways people can affect climate change will speak at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27, in the Yachats Commons multipurpose room. The program is sponsored by the Yachats Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Mary Democker is the author of “The Parents’ Guide to Climate Revolution: 100 Ways to Build a Fossil-Free Future, Raise Empowered Kids, and Still Get a Good Night’s Sleep.”
DeMocker’s book lists hundreds of concrete actions even the busiest people can take, such as leaving your bank if it invests in oil or gas pipelines and funding or volunteering with local groups working for a clean energy, joining groups or helping or donating to groups.
“We don’t need to re-invent the wheel,” DeMocker says, “just push it along a little.”
Democker’s book was a general nonfiction finalist in the 2019 Oregon Book Awards competition.
