YACHATS — Naturalists with the Cape Perpetua Collaborative are offering free guided tidepool tours this summer at Yachats Sate Park, Bob Creek and Heceta Head.
The tours mark the launch of the Tidepool Ambassador Program aimed at promoting coastal conservation and education in the Cape Perpetua area. Participants can learn about intertidal life and the marine reserve while also becoming stewards of the tidepools.
“By becoming tidepool ambassadors, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the intricate balance of our coastal ecosystems and learn how they can play a part in their preservation,” said tidepool coordinator Jamie Kish. “It is incredible to be out in the tidepools with people and watch their worlds expand as they learn about life below the tide.”
Tour times will be in the early mornings to coincide with low tides June through August. The tours are free but donations are accepted and registration is required. There are also volunteer opportunities.
