WALDPORT — The Waldport Public Library’s “Big Truck Night” returns 5-7 p.m. Thursday with all of types of large vehicles on hand for youth of all ages to inspect. The event will be in the Waldport Community Center parking lot.
Big Truck Night started in 2015 and was an annual event before the coronavirus pandemic shut it down the past two years. Its return is part of the library’s summer reading program “Adventure — Read Beyond the Beaten Path.”
Trucks and vehicles from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Central Coast Fire & Rescue, Pioneer Telephone, Waldport Public Works, Central Lincoln Peoples Utility District, Dahl Disposal, and others will be on hand to give families a chance to touch a truck.
The event is part of the library’s careers-technical-education week. Other events for the week beginning Monday include a radio controlled car demonstration day, and a trip Tuesday to the Big Creek Park shelter in Newport to learn about “Questing.”
In August, the last two camps of the summer include a young writers’ adventure camp and a chess camp.
In addition to the summer camps, weekly story times with Pet Partner reading dogs are on Tuesdays. Chess Club is on Monday and Crochet Club is every other Monday. More information is available on the library’s website.
