Florence: Florence Home & Garden Show
More than 40 vendors will be at the Florence Events this weekend for the 2020 Home & Garden Show to answer your questions on everything from flooring to fencing. The weekend will offer demonstrations, exhibits, tastings, prizes and giveaways. The show runs 2-6 p.m. Friday, March 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 8. Newport: Cinderella “Enchanted”
This is the last weekend of Coastal Act Productions’ performance of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Newport Performing Arts Center. This take on the classic fairytale is boasts fun and funny musical numbers performed by youth and adult actors from across Lincoln County. Newport: “The Kiss of Life: The Love of Water”
The Newport Visual Arts Center and Oregon Coast Council for the Arts opens a unique exhibition on Friday, March 6 that pairs the photography of Graece Gabriel with the aural accompaniments of Walking Bird/Mark Beckwith. A public reception for the installation will be 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 14 featuring artist talks. Gabriel is a Yaquina Art Association photographer from the Oregon Coast known for her macro photography, and Beckwith is a Newport-based musician who plays and composes music for wooden flutes. Lincoln City – Blues Traveler
The iconic 90s rock band Blues Traveler will perform at Chinook Winds Casino at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 6-7. A New York-based blues-rock quartet formed in 1988 by singer/harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, bassist Bobby Sheehan, and drummer Brendan Hill, Blues Traveler were part of a revival of the extended jamming style of ’60s and ’70s groups like the Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin. Signed to A&M, they released their first album, Blues Traveler, in May 1990 and followed it with Travelers & Thieves in September 1991. Ticket prices vary, and seating is selling out quickly. Newport: Pearls of Wisdom, an Evening at the College
The Oregon Coast Community College Foundation is inviting Lincoln County residents to join its students and faculty to see what the college has to offer from 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, March 7 during an annual fundraiser at the college’s Newport campus. Guests will have the opportunity to see exhibits that offer insight to different school programs including nursing, aquarium science, and music. The gourmet buffet dinner provided by Side Door Café will offer an informational dinner program that includes student experiences, OCC Foundation insights, and an auction. All funds raised by this event will support local access to education through scholarships, program equipment, and faculty development. For ticket information go to the foundation’s website.
Newport: Newport Shamrock Run
The central Oregon coast race season kicks off with the Newport Shamrock Run on Saturday March 14. The St. Patrick’s Day 5k and 10k races are hosted by Ardor Adventures and begin at Rogue Brewery in Newport and finish under the Bay Bridge. The race starts at 9 a.m. Join your fellow runners for a festive after party by the Brewery.
