Newport: Seafood Wine Festival
The annual Newport Seafood and Wine Festival started Thursday night at the South Beach Marina in Newport. The festival, in its 43rd year, has become a four-day extravaganza that attracts 20,000 to 25,000 people and features commercial and amateur wine competitions, culinary professionals offering a tasty variety of seafood delights and regional artisans showcasing their craft. Friday, Saturday and Sunday draws larger audiences, expanded hours and awards ceremonies. This year, 134 wines competed for the festival’s awards, including 34 gold medals, 27 silver medals, 36 bronze medals and one Best of Show. Lincoln City: Otis Café
After the tragic fire that closed the Otis Café last July 4, the region was deprived of the Café’s dreamy homemade molasses bread and pies. Fortunately, the Café has found a temporary location for selling these regionally famous baked goods at the Oregon Coast Artisan Market at the Lincoln City Community Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays from now until April. Gleneden: Mardi Gras at Beachcrest Brewing Company
Beachcrest Brewing Company is celebrating Mardi Gras with live music and good food Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23. Hot Sorcery food cart will attend both days with delicious Creole food to be accompanied by Beachcrest’s own fantastic brews. The Matt and Amy White Quartet will preform from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Patty George and Friends will perform from 4-6:30 p.m. Sunday. Newport: Central Oregon Coast Chorale Presents Mardi Gras
The Central Oregon Coast Chorale is celebrating its annual Mardi Gras Concert Party at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport. Stop by for jazz, dancing, and a dessert buffet sale following the show as well as a silent auction. Newport: Tree Seedling Sale
The Lincoln County Small Woodlands Association and the Lincoln County Extension Service are hosting their annual native tree seedling sale Saturday, Feb. 29. The event is designed to keep local residents informed about land stewardship and conservation awareness while providing them with affordable native seedlings. Some of the seedlings available include local fir types such as Douglas, Noble, and Grand, along with native oak, ash, and dogwood species. Most seedlings will cost around $2.
