My husband and I live on the Alsea River in Waldport and have been watching the Waldport Facebook page regarding the extra influx of visitors this weekend. The panic is real and I worry about a portion of the population who might turn to vigilantism.
That said, I mourn the closing of the state’s day use parking lots because we can no longer walk our dog on the beach. We walked Monday through Thursday of last week and were able to have great exercise without getting close to another person. I saw pictures of Saturday’s traffic and understand the need to close beach access, but hope state parks will reassess after Spring Break week. We can’t walk safely in our neighborhood and need to park near the beach.
We are retired and have been to Ray’s once and to Fred Meyer in Florence Friday, but other than that our only outings have been to the beach. No contact with friends since early March.
