Alert neighbors on Yachats Ocean Road led to the arrest Sunday of a 42-year-old Corvallis man on accusations he was trying to make off with outdoor furniture, who then fought with police as they tried to arrest him.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said they got a report at 2:42 p.m. Sunday about an unknown man trespassing at a private home on Yachats Ocean Road and attempting to steal outdoor furniture.
Deputies located Patrick C. Hummel of Corvallis hiding in a wooded area adjacent to the home. Hummel resisted arrest as he was taken into custody. He was evaluated by EMTs from Yachats Rural Fire Protection District and then taken to the Lincoln County Jail.
He is accused of second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree theft, resisting arrest, third-degree escape and interfering with a police officer.
In addition, the sheriff’s office said Monday, Benton County had issued felony warrant for Hummel.
