The Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble presents its seventh annual holiday concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 in the Yachats Commons multipurpose room.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit South Lincoln Resources and the Yachats Food Pantry. The concert will be repeated at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at the First Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw in Florence. That concert will benefit Helping Hands.
The concert, conducted by Jerry Lees, will be in two parts: an arrangement of Broadway show tunes, a rare Sousa march, and several novelty numbers, and then traditional holiday favorites. The concert will also feature two Christmas tunes by the band’s brass section.
Refreshments will be available as well as baked items for sale to take home.
The concert is free but a donation of $5 per person or $10 per family would be appreciated. Non-perishable food items will also be collected for the Yachats pantry.
The Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble is composed of about 35 professional and amateur musicians from the central Oregon coast, and has provided concert band entertainment for more than two decades. The band plays several concerts per year throughout the region, will perform Dec. 20 during the “Sea of Lights” at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. Spring concerts are planned for Florence and Yachats, plus appearances at Waldport Beachcomber Days and Waldport high school graduation.
