The Little Log Church and Museum is staging two concerts next week to help raise funds toward the rebuilding of the historical structure on West Third Street.
Friends of the Little Log Church and Museum has recently gained nonprofit status as a 501(c)3 corporation to accept unlimited tax deductible contributions. It is undertaking a campaign to raise $100,000 to help the city of Yachats rebuild the church portion of the structure. That is expected to cost $350,000.
Actor and singer Rhodd Caldwell will perform a reading of “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” by Dylan Thomas at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Caldwell produced and performed the reading last year to a sold out audience in Newport in collaboration with the Newport Symphony Orchestra. His reading will be accompanied by projections of illustrations from the book by Trina Schart Hyman.
The second performance will be by classical guitarist Cameron O’Conner of Eugene at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. O’Connor has gained international recognition as a musician and composer, and has been a prizewinner in 10 international competitions. He now serves on the faculty of Oregon State University.
Admission for either performance is $20 for adults and $5 for children under 12, payable at the door.
