A registered sex offender from Dallas, Ore. already in the Lincoln County jail on child luring charges from a Lincoln City police sting last month has been hit with four additional charges from a separate sheriff’s office investigation.
Danny S. Hicks, 58, is being held on $1 million bail with his next court date scheduled Dec. 9.
Lincoln City police arrested Hicks on Friday, Nov. 29 on three counts of luring a minor, two counts of online sex corruption of a child, attempting to purchase sex with a minor and attempting to encourage child sex abuse. In a probable cause affidavit filed in Lincoln County circuit court, Officer Hayden Tolzman said Hick contacted three police decoy Facebook accounts in September, October and November seeking sex with underage girls.
Police went to Dallas to arrest him.
In his affidavit, Tolzman said Hicks “has been the most sexually graphic and persistent suspect I have encountered.” Hicks is a registered sex offender from a Lane County luring conviction in 2021, the affidavit said.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office added to the luring and sex abuse charges against Hicks by also arresting him Monday on four additional charges while jailed on the Lincoln City charges.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Spano said the two departments were operating child luring stings at the same time and that detectives had been communicating and coordinating their work as Hicks contacted them. While the Lincoln City department has been running the child luring operations for several years, Spano said it is new for the sheriff’s department.
“It’s pro-active enforcement,” he said. “We investigate child abuse cases after they happen. Now we’re also trying to prevent them.”
