YACHATS — A series of “Holiday Homecoming” concerts will bring the 53-member Coastal Voices choir to Yachats on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Beginning at 3 p.m. at Yachats Community Presbyterian Church, the community chorus of Lincoln County will offer a varied program of seasonal music. The first half of the concert will feature songs celebrating Hannukah, Kwanza and wintertime, with the second half spotlighting both religious and secular Christmas-themed selections.
A special feature of the December concert series is half-price tickets for seniors age 55 and up. “At this holiday time we are grateful that we can make it easier for our older audience members to participate in the listening and the singing,” board chairman Paul Caldron said in a news release. The price break is due to support from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contributions Fund and the Robert D. and Marcia H. Randall Charitable Trust.
Artistic director Rhodd Caldwell will lead the audience in a sing-along (lyrics provided) after the concert intermission. Tickets will be available at the door, or online. General admission prices for the Yachats performance are $20; seniors 55-plus, $10. Youth age 17 and under will be admitted free.
Raffle tickets for song-themed gift baskets will be on sale before the concert and during intermission.
In addition to the Yachats concert, Coastal Voices will appear at the Newport Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 7; the Lincoln City Chapel by the Sea Saturday, Dec. 14, and Depoe Bay Community Hall Sunday, Dec. 22. The three performances will all begin at 3 p.m. For the Newport concert general admission tickets are $25, with seniors 55-plus at $12.50.
Coastal Voices is also organizing two free holiday events. “Holly Jolly — a Free Festive Family Affair” is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Newport Performing Arts Center. “Coastal Voices Holiday Singalong” will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.
