To the editor:
I am a resident of Yachats living along Yachats Valley Road. I want to voice my opposition to the use by a contractor for Lincoln County of the herbicide “High Noon” as a weed control along our road and river. It is scheduled to be sprayed between Miles 1-7 before the end of June.
When I read the EPA analysis of this product it seems far too strong and long lasting to be safe for our waterways and its fish population, and sensitive insect pollinators, birds and animals. Also, a herbicide in the same chemical family created a major big tree die-off near Sisters in 2013.
I would like to see a non-dangerous product be used in the future. Please work with the community to find a greatly less toxic solution.
