Two Oregon lawmakers from Lincoln County embroiled in the stalled session of the 2023 Legislature will appear in an online forum from 8-9 a.m. Friday sponsored by Oregon Coast Community College.
For the past eight years the community college has hosted live video town hall meetings between Lincoln County residents and their elected officials. Friday’s event will feature Sen. Dick Anderson, R-Lincoln City, and Rep. David Gomberg, D-Otis. The previous town halls were March 17 and April 14.
Anderson and Gomberg will take questions from the audience during the event.
Anderson’s GOP Senate colleagues in Salem have stalled work on legislation in that chamber by boycotting sessions and therefore not having a quorum to conduct business. Anderson is one of two Republican senators who has not run afoul of a voter-passed ballot measure that prevents them from seeking re-election should they have 10 unexcused absences.
In his latest weekly newsletter, Gomberg said the Legislature was “stumbling toward adjournment” and because of the Senate gridlock a special session was almost inevitable during the summer.
