The Housing Authority of Lincoln County is one of 21 organizations in Oregon to get some of a $2.5 million allotment in federal vouchers to help clients get into privately-owned rentals. The awards were announced last week by Oregon Sens. Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley.
The Lincoln County organization is getting five vouchers totaling $40,000, according to the announcement. The Housing Choice Voucher Program issued 251 vouchers to 21 housing groups. There are already 44,500 vouchers in use in Oregon, the senators said in a news release.
Housing choice vouchers allow very low-income families to choose and lease decent, and affordable privately-owned rental housing.
