A California woman was cited and a Salem couple were hospitalized with serious injuries after a car turned into the path of their motorcycle Saturday evening on the north edge of Yachats.
Oregon State Police cited Sasha M. Stone, 54, of Burbank, Calif. for making a dangerous left turn. Neither she nor her passenger, Emma L. Stone, also of Burbank, were injured.
State police said the accident occurred about 5:50 p.m. Saturday when Stone, who was southbound, tried to make a left turn from U.S. Highway 101 into a parking lot of the Earthworks and Touchstone galleries.
Her Jeep hit the rear of a Harley Davidson motorcycle being driven north by Nathan J. Baker, 52, of Salem. His wife, Lorie L. Baker, 56, was riding on the back of the motorcycle, according to the police report.
Ambulances took the Bakers to Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, where Nathan Baker was immediately flown by Lifeflight to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis where he underwent surgery for a broken pelvis and other injuries.
