FLORENCE – A 47-year-old Gold Beach woman was killed Sunday evening when her car was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Oregon 126W about five miles west of the community of Walton.
Oregon State Police said June M. Lemke was killed about 5:50 p.m. Sunday when a small SUV driven by Sadie A. Cervantes, 24, of Florence, for “an unknown reason” crossed over into the oncoming westbound lane and collided head-on with Lamke’s Prius. Lemke died at the scene. Cervantes was hospitalized with injuries, police said.
The main highway between Florence and the Eugene area was closed for five hours while the state police collision reconstruction unit completed its investigation.
