A first-dose vaccination clinic for up to 90 people – including walk-ins — will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday in the pavilion behind the Yachats Commons. As of Thursday, there were more than a third — 37 — of the appointments still available or doses available for walk-ins.
The clinic is being organized by the city of Yachats, Lincoln County Public Health, and Samaritan Health Services, which is bringing its mobile medical clinic.
It is the first clinic offered in Yachats; the county and Pacific West Ambulance are discontinuing the weekly first-dose clinic in Waldport, but will continue with second-dose clinics Saturday and May 6 and May 15.
More than 59 percent of all Lincoln County residents over the age of 16 have been vaccinated, the second-highest vaccination rate in the state.
The clinic will offer the Pfizer vaccine – the only one approved for 16- and 17-year-olds, who are now eligible for vaccinations.
A second-dose clinic for those vaccinated Friday is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. May 21.
Yachats area residents are encouraged to sign up to reserve their dose by signing up via the county’s Public Health website.
Walk-ins will be welcomed at the event, but there is no guarantee that a dose will be available, the three organizations said in an announcement Monday.
