Valentine’s Day is always special at the Little Log Church in Yachats. This year doubly so.
For the 24th year, independent minister Mary Crook will perform an annual ceremony of renewal and commitment Thursday, Feb. 14. But this year the group ceremony will be offered twice — at noon and 5:30 p.m.
Hundreds of people have renewed their vows over the years.
“For some couples it is a first-time experience; for others it has become an annual tradition – something fun and meaningful to do on Valentine’s Day,” she said. This year’s theme is “Just the way you are.”
Guitarist Richard Sharpless will play the noon ceremony; violinist Ruth Mock performs at 5:30 p.m.
Couples get a certificate of renewal as a memento.
The renewal ceremony is a fundraiser for the Little Log Church and a donation of $10 per couple is suggested. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Crook at 541-547-4547.
The 90-year-old church at the corner of Southwest Third Avenue and Pontiac Street houses a museum and also hosts weddings, gatherings and small concerts.
