E-Crash: Two vehicles were driving southbound on US-101 when the front vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, had stopped in the lane to take a left turn. The driver of the Ford F2500 behind the Toyota did not react in time and crashed into the back of the Toyota. Car Care Towing was dispatched to remove the Toyota. The Ford was drivable.

Narrative Summary
On 07/24/2020 at approximately 17:25 PM, Unit #1 was northbound on US Highway 101 near milepost 161.7 when it drove of the eastern side of the roadway into a ditch. The vehicle struck a driveway culvert headwall and vaulted across a driveway damaging the resident’s mailbox. A female driver and sole occupant exited the vehicle and walked away from the scene southbound on US Highway 101. A witness and the property owner attempted to talk with the driver, but she walked off without providing any information. A male registered owner showed up at the scene and attempted to state he had been driving. On further questioning, it was determined that his daughter had been driving and had called him after the crash. The driver’s father stated she was uninjured, but that he did not know where she was currently located. The case is under investigation.

Drug Investigation

Narrative Summary
On 7/25/20 at approximately 6:35AM I received a call from dispatch regarding a crash near milepost 158.5 on US Highway 101. I responded to the area and located the driver near Beachside State Park, approximately a mile south of where his crashed black Jeep Cherokee was located. The vehicle was crashed on the southbound ditch facing northwest. Driver told me he fell asleep. Driver consented to and performed field sobriety tests. Driver performed poorly on the tests but did not exhibit signs of impairment. Driver agreed to return via my patrol car to the crash scene. Driver was searched and I located a small clear baggie containing white crystal substance. Driver admitted the baggie contained methamphetamine. Driver was cited for failure to drive within lane, and cited and released for possession of methamphetamine, less than 2 grams. Driver was able to remove the vehicle without tow truck assistance.

Narrative Summary
On 7/25/20 at approximately 4:28 pm I was dispatched to a two vehicle crash with injuries which occurred on SR 18 near the intersection of Bear Creek Rd. Unit #1, a green Honda Civic (215DDU), rear-ended unit #2, a silver Nissan Pathfinder (900CFB), at a high rate of speed as the Pathfinder waited to turn left on Bear Creek Rd. The driver of the Honda was seriously injured and transported to North Lincoln Hospital; the occupants of the Pathfinder were not injured. During the crash investigation drugs and other paraphernalia where located in the Honda. The driver of the Honda exhibited numerous signs of impairment and admitted to using methamphetamine three days ago. The driver refused to perform a modified battery of SFST’s. A warrant was applied for and obtained blood and urine samples were seized form the driver to be tested for presence of controlled substances. The driver was cited and released to the care of the hospital on charges of DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering of a person, Criminal Mischief II, PCS Methamphetamine and Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

The victim reported he parked in the turnout for approximately 10 minutes while he walked down to the beach and when he returned he found his rear driver side window had been broken out and shopping bags containing recently purchased clothing item for the Lincoln City Outlet Malls had been taken. There are no suspects at this time.

**E-crash Only** On 7/26/20 The Oregon State Police witnessed a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 101 and Otter Crest Loop. Vehicle #1 (Blue Acura) was attempting to make an illegal left turn onto Highway 101 and pulled directly into the path of vehicle #2/#3 (White Nissan/Beige Trailer). Vehicle #2 attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so. Occupants of both vehicles were transported to the hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Narrative Summary
On 7/26/20 at approximately 4:58 pm I conducted a traffic stop on SR 34 near mile post 4. I observed a tan station wagon westbound, recklessly tailgating a truck and swerving back and forth out of its lane. Upon contact the driver exhibited numerous signs of impairment and admitted to drinking alcohol recently. He had his fiancé and two month old daughter as passengers in his vehicle. The driver consented to and performed poorly on SFST’s. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to perform a breath test rendering a result of .14% BAC. The driver was cited and released on charges of DUII, Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering a Person and Driving While Suspended Misdemeanor.

Narrative Summary
**e-Crash**On 7/27/20 OSP received a report of a crash at approximately 2:53 PM that occurred on US-101 MP 157 outside of Waldport. I arrived on scene a few minutes after the crash was reported. Unit #1 (A maroon 2013 Kia Sorrento bearing the OR plate of 009JXR) was following Unit #2 (A dark blue 2013 Subaru Outback bearing the OR plate of 581FXS). Unit #2 was at a complete stop behind a car turning onto SW Ocean Hills Dr. Unit #1 was following too closely, and was unable to stop in time. Unit #1 then rear ended Unit #1. The passenger of Unit #2 requested to be transported to the Newport Hospital. The driver of both vehicles arranged their own tow with Waldport Tire and Auto. Unit #1’s driver was warned for following too closely.
