The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund has distributed $249,057 to 46 organizations as part of its quarterly donations to nonprofit groups. The seven-member charitable fund advisory board has distributed more than $16.8 million since its inception in 2001.
Eligibility for money from the charitable fund is limited to two categories — entities and activities located in the Siletz Tribe’s 11-county service area of Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties, and Native American entities and activities located anywhere in the United States.
In Lincoln County, groups receiving awards this month included:
- Centro de Ayuda of Newport: $3,460 for costumes, shoes and accessories for folklore dance group performing throughout Lincoln County;
- Lincoln City Cultural Center: $2,600 for design, production and application for glass windscreen dedicated to history and culture of the Siletz Tribe;
- Siletz Tribal Elders Council: $46,000 for lodging and meals for Siletz tribal member elders for the Restoration Pow-Wow;
- Siletz Tribal Elders Council: $18,248 for lodging and meals for Siletz tribal member elders for Run to the Rogue;
- Central Coast Chorale, Waldport: $2,700 for music royalties, performance safety equipment and rehearsal venues;
- Business for Excellence in Youth, Neotsu: $3,000 for insurance, gas, oil changes and tires for van;
- Innovative Concepts for Families Lincoln County, Newport: $7,500 for use of dental vans to provide dental services to Newport and Lincoln City;
- Toledo Jr./Sr. High School: $7,200 for timing system for track team;
- Yachats Food Pantry: $3,00o to purchase food;
- North Lincoln County Historical Museum, Lincoln City: $4,253 for equipment to digitize more than 15,000 feet of film;
- Lincoln City Senior Center: $600 for food and supplies for Thanksgiving luncheon;
- Newport Swim Team: $5,000 for uniforms that include caps, suits and T-shirts required for competitive events;
- B’nai B’rith Camp: $5,000 for scholarships for campers in the Lincoln County day camp program;
- RSVP of Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties, Toledo: $2,350 for medical equipment for seniors and disabled people;
- Central Coast Fire & Rescue Volunteer Association, Waldport: $6,000 for incentives, recruitment, education and training for volunteers;
- East Lincoln County Emergency Responders, Toledo: $7,500 for vehicle stabilization equipment, including rescue jacks, winches and chains; Logsden Community Club: $14,178 for commercial stove to meet fire code;
- Siletz Valley Baseball: $6,274 for materials to fix and maintain baseball field, plus team uniforms;
- Siletz Valley Fire District: $2,300 for medical patient lifting devices;
- Lincoln City Cultural Center: $10,900 for outdoor tables and chairs for Kiwanis outdoor classroom;
- Yaquina River Museum of Art, Toledo: $1,650 for advertising for 29th Annual Toledo Labor Day Art Walk;
